On the evening of Friday 29th July, a joint operation between the Bumi Hills Anti-Poaching Unit, MAPP, Bulembi Safaris Support Unit and MBCU Kariba, took place on the Zimbabwean waters of Lake Kariba.

19 Zambians who entered and were fishing illegally in Zimbabwean waters were arrested, all pleaded guilty and have been sentence with deterrent sentences ranging from 6 to 12 months in prison. All 8 kapenta fishing rigs were impounded as well.

BHAPU (Bumi Hills Anti-Poaching Unit) takes it’s patrol and protection of both water and land very seriously, and an outcome where perpetrators are brought to justice is always worth celebrating.
