BUSH FIRE SEASON IS UPON US.
With the abundant rains we received last year, it is surprising how quickly the bush has dried out.
Sadly, most of Southern Africa burns at this time each year, and what with global warming looming, the consequences of burning the veld year in and year out, needs to be considered carefully.
Here a back-burning exercise along a road, is underway to prevent an approaching veldfire, driven by the strong winds at this time of year, from spreading across into other areas, leaving wildlife often desperately short of food until the rains, assuming these are going to be generous this season?
